Congressman Leonard Lance
N.J. Congressional District #7
Washington, DC

Dear Congressman Lance:

As a constituent of the existing configured Congressional District #7, I offer my appreciation for your service in the elected office that the constituents of our District have presently entrusted to you as our Representative. A position of authority, trust and accountability, in which according to our Constitution, “We the People” have the obligation to monitor and review your service, then judge your actions, and issue you a report card every two years.

As in previous multiple correspondence, I had urged you not to vote in favor of the Debt Ceiling Bill in its final form as it was presented for a vote on the House Floor. I highlighted the fact that the intention of establishing a so called “Super Committee,” was not going to be productive or conducive for the American Citizen. There would be no way that twelve members of Congress were going to take the “Heat” that five hundred and thirty five members of Congress would not do collectively. Also, the purposeful deferring of a Balanced Budget Amendment to a time when the urgency level would become neutralized and the leveragability advantage would become impotent, as in the unfortunate fact which was recently displayed in the defeat of the BBA. Besides, in my opinion, Congress having yet again chosen to procrastinate in lieu of action, believe you found it to be politically expedient to do so at the time and to yet again continue to kick that proverbial “Can down the road”.

I have included below an e-mail correspondence that your staff has forwarded to me as a result of your e-blast, as I am listed on your contact list.

Dear Friend,

As you may know the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction announced late Monday that it failed to reach an agreement on a deficit-reduction package.

I am deeply disappointed that the so-called Super Committee could not reach a bipartisan agreement on a deficit-reduction plan. Like so many Americans I had great hope that the 12 members of the joint committee would come together and work in a bipartisan capacity toward a plan that included fundamental tax and entitlement reform and address our unsustainable levels of debt and deficit spending.

Monday’s announcement coupled with last week’s defeat of a Balanced Budget Amendment in the U.S. House leaves many Americans doubting if Washington is truly serious about getting the Nation’s fiscal house in order.

I remain committed to fiscal responsibility and working to enact policies that will remove economic uncertainty, restore confidence in the marketplace and put more Americans back to work. This in turn will lead to a stronger economy that I believe all of us want to achieve.

You can share your thoughts and views with me; I hope to hear from you.

Best personal wishes,

Leonard Lance
Member of Congress

In the above letter, you speak of “unsustainable levels of debt and deficit spending”, but in reality you voted for the Debt Ceiling increase, heaping onto the American taxpayers backs and our children’s children, an additional 2.6 trillion [$2,600,000,000,000.00] of debt, by inevitably reverting into new tax increases, with over .40 cents of every dollar spent being borrowed from the likes of China, you have now potentially put our National Security at risk with the implications of a drastic reduction, approximately 6 hundred billion [$600,000,000,000.00], of military and national security funding. You also voted to fund Obama Care, which was part of the Bill, allotting the initial l hundred and 5 billion  [$105,000,000,000.00] in “Start up Costs” to the Obama administration. Included in the same Bill was the establishment of yet another big government regulatory body titled the “Super Committee”, purposely creating a “Scapegoat” scenario so as to alleviate yourselves from initiating due diligence and timely enacting of meaningful cuts to the ever increasing deficit, thus again employing the game of politics as usual.

Congress has been informed on multiple occasions that a required minimum debt reduction of 4 trillion [$4,000,000,000,000.00], preferably 6 trillion [$6,000,000,000.00] is necessary to inflict any impact on our, as you said, “unsustainable levels of debt and deficit spending”. Yet you resort to the usual political rhetoric and propaganda stating “ I remain committed to fiscal responsibility and working to enact policies that will remove economic uncertainty, restore confidence in the marketplace and put more Americans back to work.” With these tangible results materializing from your type of leadership, I ask that you stop immediately, because in effect you are one of those swinging the sledge hammer destroying the American Dream.

Respectfully;

David Larsen
